I haven't checked all available 10.8 personal information managers, but i presume that since entourage has no "export file" option, it's pretty unlikely another program can import the data. checked with eaglefiler and they confirmed they can't read an entourage notes file. I got a "can't read this file" error message. Specifically, i downloaded a trial version of eaglefiler and tried to import the entourage data file.ĭocuments: microsoft user data: office x identities: main identity: database i don't see any way to do this with entourage. I can copy each of my approximately 1000 notes one at a time and paste each into the new pim but when you spoke of exporting, i presume you spoke of bulk exporting the file all at once rather than copy and paste each item on the notes list. sounds nice in principle, but, to the best of my knowledge, microsoft entourage does not have an option for exporting its notes file in any of the many cross-program data formats. You are suggesting exporting and importing. Thanks for your kind response, but, again, i don't believe it's even that straightforward. she has multiple os's running under vmware on her laptop (she showed them to me looks beautiful as she swipes left or right to switch os), but her "ex-husband installed them," and she doesn't know how he did it. the tech who had counseled me at the apple store was puzzled when i went back today. assuming no glitches along the way, only about 20 hours of work later! the store says, "just use time machine to back up everything first" but of course time machine won't back up my windows xp running under vmware, now, will it? so i have to carefully back up part of my computer - not including vmware and xp - erase my disk, install 10.6, find and install some new personal information manager program, hand copy each entry of my data from entourage notes to the new pim ("migrate?" ha!), pay for another copy of 10.8, reinstall 10.8, then reinstall vmware (assuming you will let me use the same key code if not, then pay for another copy of vmware), then reinstall windows xp (asssuming my windows disk will let me use it again if not, pay for another copy of windows). "temporary" installation of 10.6? wow, you make it sound so simple!Īccording to the apple store, the only way to revert from 10.8 to an older os, is to erase the disk. or did i get it wrong and that's not vmware. does that happen automatically in vmware 5 or is there some way of adding it. swipe and the desktop of a different os shows up. (i'd actually prefer x.4 because then i can access my system 9 applications which had all my info from the 90s)Ĭan someone please direct me to instructions for how to install x.4 (in addition to the windows xp that's already there) into vmware.Īlso, i saw someone's macbook where she swiped horizontally to jump between os x.8 and windows and older mac os versions. I understand that one way around this would be to install os x.4 or x.5 as a virtual machine within vmware 5 running under mountain lion. so i have 5 years or so of notes on all aspects of my life - receipts, travel info, financial info, hundreds of other areas, plus notes of professional meetings, that i can no longer access. i also recently upgraded to osx.8 mountain lion only to discover that i can no longer run microsoft entourage because mountain lion does not support power pc programs. I have been running windows xp on my macbook pro using vmware.
